Farm Market – 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., every Saturday through October 25, in the South Squires parking lot located off Main Street in downtown Rockford. The market features Michigan-grown produce, fresh baked goods, and flowers and plants.

8th Annual “Helping Our Neighbors in Need” Oil Change – 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at John Decker Chevrolet, 4650 Fourteen Mile Rd. NE, Rockford. Get a lube, oil, and filter for only $15. (Light trucks and cars only, please. No diesels.) All proceeds to benefit North Kent Service Center.

Quilt Raffle – sponsored by Friends of the Timothy C. Hauenstein Reynolds Twp. Library, 4:00 p.m. at Ensley Park Pavilion during the Howard City Harvest Festival. Tickets are available at the Howard City Village Office, the library and Patchwork Dreams LLC. One of the two quilts is on display at the library. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. You need not be present to win. All proceeds to benefit the library and Howard City Harvest Festival.


Sunday, September 21

Roast Beef Dinner – 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rockford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, 4195 Thirteen Mile Road, Rockford. Cost is $7 for adults, and $3.50 for children under age 12. Enjoy all-you-can-eat roast beef, potatoes, corn, beans, roll, dessert and beverage. Bring your papers for recycling! “Best roast beef in town!”

Breakfast – 9 to 11 a.m. at Sparta/Grand Rapids Moose Lodge #50, 11510 N. Division, Sparta. Cost is $5 per person, which includes coffee, juice and milk. Presented by Moose On Bikes, Lodge #50.

“Turkey Shoot” Family Fun Day – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sparta Hunting and Fishing Club, 13218 Long Lake Dr., Sparta. Trap, archery, grilled chicken and barbeque dinners, raffle, running deer, BB gun range, and kids crafts. Blood Drive – 1 to 7 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, fellowship hall, 310 East Division, Rockford.

Rockford Lions Club Meeting – 6 p.m. at Rockford Community Cabin, with speaker Mike Dunlap of Dunlap & Associates, on the topic of “Michigan Economic Outlook.”

Native Plant Sale & Workshop – workshop at 6 p.m.; sale at 6:45 p.m. at the Eagle Park Business Complex, corner of East Beltline and Leonard (building no. 3260). Preregistration and a $5 admission fee is required for the workshop. Preorders accepted for the sale. Plants will also be available on a cash-and-carry first-come-first-served basis. Sale includes wildflowers, native grasses, rescued woodland plants and garden flats. Proceeds to benefit the community through various conservation programs offered by the Kent Conservation District. SCORE is a nonprofit organization sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration and is dedicated to helping the small-business community through no-fee mentoring, business counseling and low-cost workshops. Mended Hearts, a volunteer nonprofit support group affiliated with the American Heart Association, offers hope, information and encouragement to heart patients, families and caregivers through those who have experienced heart disease.
