Rockford JV-B boys experience first taste of spring golf

The junior varsity B boys golf team had their first match on April 13 at Braeside Golf Course. The weather was indicative of what spring golf can be like-40 degrees, windy and rainy. Both the Rockford and Northview golfers braved the weather to compete in their first match of the season. Northview narrowly won the match with a score of 191 compared to Rockford’s 199.

Coach Rick Kelbel was proud of the team for breaking 200, and said, “In weather like that, I knew if my team broke 200 they would have a great shot to win, but Northview pulled it out. I was proud of my golfers.”

Team captain Sam Barnard led the way for Rockford with a 48, Mitch Sloboda and Casey Cook each shot 49, and Alex Lewis shot 53, for the team’s total of 199.
