Jeff Hernandez (a.k.a. Jeff Ohnsman) puts up the new city banners, one of the signs of spring in the City of Rockford. Others are flushing of the hydrants and filling the planters downtown as Rockford spruces up for the new summer. This year readers might miss “curb shopping day,” a former City spring event removing large items free of charge. According to the city manager, Rockford spent about $10,000 on last year’s Spring Clean Up day and has decided to discontinue the practice.
