Rockford freshman baseball wins Jenison/Grandville Invitational

The Rockford freshman baseball team won the Jenison/Grandville Invitational held on Saturday, May 16. In their first game against Grand Ledge, the score was tied 1-1 until the bottom of the fifth inning. The Rams won 2-1 behind solid pitching by Christian Reid. In game two against Traverse City West, Mark LaPrairie and Max Crimp combined to pitch a 12-5 victory.

In the championship game versus Coldwater, the game was tied 5-5, but key hits, solid defense, and strong pitching by Ian Stankus led the Rams to an exciting 7-5 tournament victory. Coached by Joe Schwander and Lance Boehm, the freshman team has an overall record this season of 24-1-0.
