The 39th annual Riverwood State Jr. Golf Tournament was held Thursday and Friday, July 9-10, at Riverwood Resort in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., with 138 golfers playing 18 holes each day. The players were made up of boys and girls ages 10 and under, up to age 18, with the largest age groups flighting after the first day into championships and presidents’ flights.
Trent Davison, 17, of Rockford tied with the 2004 overall medalist Tommy Yamaoka of Zeeland for the lowest two-day score of 142. Overall medalist from 1985, Rick Williams of Big Rapids, still holds the record with a score of 140. Davison scored 71 each day, at two under par.
