Calling all parents of RHS class of 2010

Can you believe they are seniors already? This year will go by even faster than all the rest, and plans for AfterGrad 2010 are underway!

AfterGrad is a drug- and alcohol-free celebration for Rockford High School (RHS) graduates, held at a “secret location” immediately after the graduation ceremony at the Delta Plex on June 8, 2010. AfterGrad is an all-night, lock-in party featuring great food, music and entertainment. Transportation from the Delta Plex to the “secret location” and back to RHS is provided. Parents can be assured that their grads will have a great time in a safe and secure environment.

Parents of all RHS class of 2010 seniors should plan to attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. in the RHS staff dining room (next to the cafeteria). The purpose of the meeting is to provide details about the AfterGrad party, and have parent input in the planning.

Registration is now available for AfterGrad 2010, and are available at the RHS main office. The cost for this year’s event is $75, which covers only a portion of the actual cost of the event. Additional fundraising events are ongoing throughout the year.

RCTV broadcast now available on Web

In the past, RCTV (an education and government access channel) has been available only through Charter Communications. However, the broadcast is now available on the Web via the “Beyond the Rock” website.

Three years ago, RCTV-21 and the Rockford High School broadcasting class teamed up to form the student-run video production company “Beyond the Rock Productions.” Students create shows promoting curricular and co-curricular activities, highlight schools in our viewing area, and assist in the production of community awareness videos. These opportunities create an environment that helps students develop a sense of commitment to their school community and the community in which they live.

To watch RCTV via the Web, simply go to and select “Watch RCTV Live Stream.” RCTV is still available via Charter Communications as well. Be sure to watch the live broadcast of the 2009 Rockford homecoming assembly on Friday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m.

If you have any questions or would like additional information, please contact Geri Curtis, RCTV station manager, at (616) 863-6043.
