On Wednesday, September 30, youngsters in a car escaped serious injury after their four-door vehicle struck a tree head-on on Young Avenue south of Ten Mile Road. The vehicle had been heading northbound over a hill.

The crash occurred around 4 p.m. and at least two people were treated on the scene by Rockford Ambulance. Cannon Township Fire Department responded to the accident along with the Kent County Sheriff Department and the Michigan State Police. Northbound vehicles were diverted from that stretch of road until the scene was cleared. The vehicle was removed by Nelson’s Towing. Cannon Fire Captain Brian Morris said the vehicle was likely going too fast over the hill.
