Register now for Rockford Riptide

Rockford Riptide Swim Team is now registering swimmers ages 5 to 18 for its winter session, November 16 through March 19. Riptide is a United States Swimming competitive swim program and part of Rockford Aquatics.

A registration session is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 23 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at North Rockford Middle School’s pool lobby.

Competitive swimming experience is not necessary, and swimmers new to Riptide will be evaluated during the registration session so they can be placed in the program that best fits their skills and goals. For complete information about Riptide programs, visit www.riptide.org.

Riptide is comprised of several swim sessions over the course of the year. These sessions vary in length and involve some meet opportunities in addition to practices. Fun events like beach parties and pizza and pool game nights are included during the sessions.

Riptide also offers a pre-competitive swim program for younger swimmers wanting to learn more about a competitive swim team. Junior Riptide sessions last for five weeks and include a meet opportunity. The next Junior Riptide session starts Oct. 18.

Fall Riptide swimmers just competed in their first USA swimming club of the season, the Spartan Pentathlon. For many of the newer swimmers, this was their first time competing and all placed in the top 10, most taking first through third places. It was a great experience for those who participated and a fantastic showing early in the season for the Riptide swim team.

Riptide’s purpose is to introduce children to the benefits of competitive swimming and encourage swimmers to reach their highest level of potential in and out of the water while demonstrating leadership and sportsmanship skills.
