Friday, October 16

Seniors Unlimited Casino Trip—Firekeepers Casino in Battle Creek. Cost is $41 per guest, which includes $20 in slot play, $5 in food credit, transportation by bus, breakfast at McDonalds, and driver’s gratuity. Saturday, October 17

Rockford Farm Market—8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through October 31, in the South Squires Street parking lot, off Main St., downtown Rockford, featuring Michigan-grown produce, fresh baked goods, flowers and plants.

Blood Drive, Flu Shots & Safety Day—Hope Community Church, 7000 Myers Lake Ave., Rockford. Blood drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All donors receive a first-aid kit and refreshments. Movies and child care activities available while parents donate. Flu shots (not H1N1) by Spectrum Health Flu Program. Cost is $30. Safety Day activities for kids from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Car seat safety checks are first-come first-served or by appointment by calling (616) 874-4673. The church will also be receiving winter weather clothing (coats, hats, mittens, etc.) on this day, to be donated to the North Kent Service Center.

Sunday, October 18

Roast Beef Dinner—11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rockford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, 4195 Thirteen Mile Road, Rockford. Cost is $8 for adults, and $3.50 for children under age 12. Enjoy all-you-can-eat roast beef, potatoes, corn, beans, roll, dessert and beverage. Free Food for Needy Families—5 p.m. in the Mobile Food Pantry at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 6070 Kuttshill Drive (corner of Northland Drive and Rogue River Rd.; entrance on Kuttshill), Rockford, providing free food for needy families in the North Kent community.
