Seven students from East Rockford Middle School (ERMS) were selected to participate in the Western Michigan University All-Star Middle School Honor Band. The students were accompanied by Rebecca Kilgore-Longtin, ERMS band director. The event took place on October 27 at Miller Auditorium on the campus of Western Michigan University.

The selected students spent the day rehearsing and learning from the renowned conductor and composer Douglas Akey. They were also able to participate in the Bronco Marching Band rehearsal as well as enjoy performances by the University Trombone Choir and the University Concert Band.

The day was culminated with performances by the Middle School Honor Band and a combined orchestra of the WMU Concert Band with the Middle School Honor Band.
