In tough times, kids’ needs still met

As the employment market has been hard for many in the Grand Rapids area, parents are struggling to provide for their children. Everyone seems to be facing some financial struggles, some more than others. In our current economy it is a

smart choice to find ways to save money, anywhere you can.

The Rockford American Legion Merritt Lamb Post 102 Auxiliary will be holding their second “All Kids Sale” on Saturday, Feb. 27, from 9 a.m. to noon. Having the convenience of shopping in one place for all kid-related items at great prices has been the goal for the Rockford American Legion Auxiliary.

The Auxiliary is a unique group of women that is dedicated to volunteering, patriotism, and dedication to our veterans, young Americans and communities. Shoppers will be asked for $1 at the door for admission. Proceeds from door and table sales will go directly to the Rockford American Legion Merritt Lamb Post 102 Auxiliary’s commitment to their community, veterans, and uplifting efforts for soldiers overseas.

The Rockford American Legion Merritt Lamb Post 102 is located at 330 Rockford Park Drive, at Northland Drive south of 12 Mile Rd.

The Rockford Education Association (REA) was thrilled to be able to participate in Rockford High School’s Youth Initiative fundraising campaign to build a house for Habitat for Humanity. The Youth Initiative group happily accepted a check for $1,000 from REA, bringing Youth Initiative to within $8,000 of their goal. Youth Initiative students have met with the family they will be building for, and have learned the location of the house they’ll build this spring. If you would like to donate time, money or materials to this home-building campaign, please contact Youth Initiative Advisor Dan Modderman at (616) 863-6030.
