Rockford Squires off to wet start in Little League

The first week of baseball for the Rockford Squire Jr. Minors team got off to a wet start as their first game on Saturday, May 1 was called due to rain.

Cole Swanson awaits a throw at first base while Sean VanKoevering backs up the play for the Rockford Squire Little League team.

Game number two of the week was played on a cool Thursday evening as the Rockford Squires played the Chow Hound team. Both teams played well in the field and at the plate. The Squires were led offensively by Derek Wedge, Chase Carroll and Josh Vickery, who each had four hits apiece. Defensively, the Squires were led by Matt DiCosola and Cole Swanson, who each made outstanding plays to get a runner out. Both teams had lots of hits, scored many runs and in the end had tons of fun.

Game three was also cancelled due to the weather.
