Rockford Area Historical Society—6:30 p.m. Annual Picnic and Election of Officers Please bring your own table service and a dish to pass.

Saturday, June 5

Boy Scout Troop 228 Alumni and Friends Picnic—12 noon to 2 p.m. at Bostwick Lake Congregational Church, 7979 Belding Road, Rockford. It is the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouts of America. In addition to the hot dog picnic, the Scouts will also be doing a demonstration of camping skills and equipment.

Euchre Club—6:30 p.m. at Peppermill Grill, 8 S. Squires St., Rockford. Cost is $2. Bring a snack and a non-alcohol beverage. For information call (616) 884-0757. Donations accepted for the North Kent Service Center. New players welcome.

Sunday, June 6

Swiss Steak Dinner—noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Rockford Masonic Lodge. Cost is $8 for adults; $3 for children under age 10. Dinner includes Swiss steak, vegetable, mashed potatoes with gravy, salad, dinner roll, dessert and beverage.

Monday, June 7

Book Discussion—6 p.m. at the Plainfield Library. ìStealing Buddhaís Dinnerî by Bich Minh Nguyen. This book about a Vietnamese refugee who grew up in Grand Rapids is fun to read because readers will recognize many places (and possibly people) from this area.

Blood Drive—12 noon to 7 p.m. at Rockford Community Cabin, 220 North Monroe Street, Rockford.

Tuesday, June 8

Country Music—9:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Tuesday at Rockford Ambulance Community Center, corner of 10 Mile Road and Shaner Avenue in Rockford. Music by the Rogue River Band. Enjoy free coffee, tea and snacks.

American Sewing Guild—6:30 p.m. doors open, 7 p.m. program starts at the Plainfield Senior Center, 5255 Grand River Drive NE, Grand Rapids. Nationally known speaker Mary Ray will present the program, “Choosing Fabrics to Match the Design.” For more information go online at www.grasq.org or call (616) 575-1677.

Thursday, June 10

Rockford Lions Club Meeting—6 p.m. social, 6:30 dinner and 7 p.m. meeting at the Community Cabin, 220 N. Monroe St., Rockford. Meetings held every second and fourth Thursday of each month.

Friday, June 11

Cher “Lisa Irion”—7 p.m. doors open, 8 p.m. show starts at the Rockford American Legion, 330 Rockford Park Drive (Northland Dr. between 11Mile and 12 Mile. One night only. Lisa is the winner of 2007 International Celebrity Images Reel Award “Rising Star”, winner of 2006 IGCITA Cloney Award “Rising Star” and appeared as a guest on the Tonight show with Jay Leno, the Rachel Ray show and Lifetime TV. This performance is open to the public 18 and older. Cost is $15 and tickets are available at the Legion Lounge.
