Rockford students meet ArtPrize founder Rick DeVos

While down at ArtPrize on Saturday, Sept. 25, Crestwood Elementary School students Justin Lehmkuhl (left) and Ayden Kraai (right) get the chance to meet ArtPrize founder Rick DeVos. The school’s fifth-grade teachers came up with a “Double the Prize” competition, in which the students get the chance to vote for their favorite entry in order to earn a “No Homework” pass. According to the boys’ teacher, Lisa DeWitt, this is being offered in the spirit of encouraging community contributions, experiencing other cultures and the aesthetic beauty of downtown Grand Rapids. The boys were excited to find DeVos shopping in one of the local stores on Monroe Avenue, and were able to get a moment of his time for a quick photo op.
