Hardware comes up aces with storewide sale

There were over 200 customers in the first hour of Rockford Ace Hardware’s storewide sale last Tuesday, November 23. According to Inventory Coordinator Katie Buick, the Edenpure heaters on hand were gone in the first minute.

“I love this sale, it’s my favorite,” Buick said.

An employee at Ace for four-and-a-half years, Buick said she likes the excitement and fast pace of a big sale and this one was no exception. “I like it when it is busy—time flies and it gets people in the holiday spirit.”

Pete’s angels—Ready to help customers are General Manager Angela Mead, Inventory Coordinator Katie Buick and Supervisor Jenn Rich.

Shopping for the shop—Karen Elliott, owner of Karen’s Candy and Gifts, 8450 Algoma Ave., is picking up some things for her store at Rockford Ace Hardware. Holiday decorations and odds and ends were all included in the “20 percent off everything” sale. It was Elliott’s first visit to Ace. “I like it. It’s a nice store.” She said the handyman who works in her shop is a regular at Ace.

Great stocking stuffers—Ruth Bivins found these fuzzy socks during her visit. She didn’t stop in for anything particular, but knew she would find some bargains. At five for $5, the fuzzy socks were already a deal. With 20 percent off, they came to $4.28, including tax. “You can’t do better than that,” Bivins said.

Nuts and bolts are girl stuff—Robin Toth takes advantage of the Rockford Ace Hardware sales to pick up some girl stuff. The washers, nuts and other items are for making steam punk jewelry with her godchild. “We’ll see how it goes,” Toth said of the venture in which she is just starting out. She said she thought it sounded like an interesting thing to do and the jewelry is popular.
