Mustaches for Mitchell a DMD fundraiser

On Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, during the Rockford varsity boys and girls home basketball games against East Grand Rapids High School, Rockford Public Schools (RPS) will be raising funds for Mustaches for Mitchell, a fundraiser to support research and education for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). The fundraising is done for the Parent Project MD in the name of Mitchell Peterson, a Rockford High School freshman diagnosed with DMD.

On November 15, a group of 20 staff members throughout the district began growing mustaches as one of the fundraisers for the cause. The December 10 fundraiser provides the opportunity for the student body and community to be involved. Fans can purchase self-adhesive mustaches and t-shirts to wear throughout the game in support of this fundraiser. All money raised from the mustaches and t-shirts goes directly to Mitchell’s Cause of Parent Project MD to fund research and education for DMD. So, fans, please come on out and cheer for your Rams and rock a Mustaches for Mitchell mustache and t-shirt for charity!

For more information, please contact Rockford Freshman Center teacher Al Reickard at (616) 863-6348 or e-mail to areickard@rockfordschools.org.
