School raises funds for student with brain tumor

Chandler Woods staff is proud to be supporting eight-year-old Johnny Teis through their Jeans Days For A Purpose (JDFAP) during the month of February. Johnny was a Chandler Woods student—along with his brother and sister—until his family moved to Arkansas about a year ago. Shortly after moving, Johnny was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. After months of treatment that kept his tumor from growing, his December MRI showed that the tumor is growing again. Johnny has been given less than six months to live, but that is not stopping his family and friends across the nation from showing him how much he is loved and supported.

Staff members will be wearing special “Johnny’s Team” t-shirts with their jeans on the three Fridays of the month. They will also be taking a group photo and video to send to Johnny and his family. Friday, Feb. 4’s moral focus assembly will focus on “Johnny the Brave,” showing the students a video of the courage of one little boy who has touched our lives forever. He is Johnny the Brave—what a great model for the month of Courage. It will also be the school’s first day of JDFAP for him. On JDFAP, students and staff pay money to wear jeans and donate the cash to a cause. Friends of the Teis family have made and posted an amazing video of Johnny.
