Saturday, March 5

3rd Annual Bands on the Grand Festival—9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Forest Hills Eastern High School Auditorium, 2200 Pettis Ave. NE, Ada; parking at Knapp Street entrance to the school. Admission is free; hosted by the Forest Hills Adult Community Band. Concessions will be available to purchase. Each band will perform a public 45-minute concert before adjudicators for critique and then receive a private 30-minute clinic with a professional/college level band directors. Sunday, March 6

Swiss Steak Dinner—noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Rockford Masonic Lodge, 1430 Northland Dr., Rockford. Cost is $8 for adults, and $3 for children under age 10. Dinner includes Swiss steak, choice of two vegetables, mashed potatoes with gravy, salad, dinner roll, piece of pie, and beverage. Open to the community.

Monday, March 7

Culinary Herbs Class—7 p.m. at the Springs Free Methodist Church, 135 N. Grant St., Cedar Springs, presented by Cedar Springs Garden Club. Free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Joyce Kebless of Midwest Michigan Herb Association will speak on oils, vinegars and other ways to use garden herbs.

Stress and Parenting—6:30 p.m. at Krause Memorial Library, 140 E. Bridge St., Rockford. Learn about stress as it relates to parenting and caring for children ages 5 and under with Jill Urbane. Rockford Lions Club Meeting—6 p.m. social, 6:30 dinner and 7 p.m. meeting at the Community Cabin, 220 N. Monroe St., Rockford. Meetings held every second and fourth Thursday of each month.

Auditions for “Devil May Care” Musical Play—6:30 to 9 p.m. at Cedar Springs United Methodist Church, 140 S. Main St., Cedar Springs. Practices will begin in early April and continue until performances in the end of May. Cast includes three men and five women of various ages. Some singing required for most parts.
