Fundraiser, silent auction benefits seven-year-old

An evening of good food, company and wonderful silent auction items will also support a good cause. Blake Hulliberger, 7, has been battling childhood leukemia for the past three years. His learning ability has also been affected by a stroke he suffered early on in his fight. On Saturday, March 26, the public is invited to enjoy an evening of good food, entertainment and a silent auction at Greenville Community Church, 6596 S. Vining Street in Greenville. The event is from 5 to 8 p.m. with auction winners to be announced after 8 p.m.

Because Blake has missed lots of school during his treatment, and because of the stroke, he attends a special educational program called Orton Gillingham. It has been very effective and his family hopes he can continue. Unfortunately the program costs $2,000 for every 50 sessions. Blake’s family hopes fundraisers will help them continue his education in the program. A fund for Blake has also been established at Fifth Third Bank for anyone who would like to contribute. The event fee is donation only.
