Rockford Sportsman’s Club sponsors charity event for Honored American Veterans Afield

Ruger Rimfire Series—Michigan State Championship will be held at the Rockford Sportsman’s Club on Saturday, May 21, 2011.

Ruger Rimfire shooting competitions are designed to be fun and safe shooting matches for the entire family. Incorporating both .22 LR pistols and rifles, courses of fire are created with safety as the top priority and scenarios that meet any shooter’s skill level. Pre-registration is required. A Ruger firearm is not required. This event is open to the public and will benefit Honored American Veterans Afield.

There will be two divisions: open and limited .22 long rifle only. Open: any firearm (rifle, pistol or revolver) with scopes, optical sights, light gathering scopes, battery powered optics, lasers, compensator or muzzle break. Limited: guns with iron sights, adjustable sights and fiber optics are allowed but no electronic sights (aim tots or lasers).

Registrations are 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. There will be three classes—mens, ladies and juniors (12-18). Shooters under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Minimum age is 12.

Courses of fire are a rimfire rifle, handgun and minimum of two magazines for each are required. Four magazines per gun are recommended. Competitors must have a range bags/cases for all guns.

The shoot is limited to the first 120 paid entry fees. You must pre-register by Saturday, May 14, 2011. You can register online or download Rockford Sportsman’s Clubs registration form.

Adult entry fee is $40 per division. Shooters under 18 years of age: only $10 per division and will be registered for prizes, but will not be able to win a firearm unless they pay and adult entry fee. A minimum of three Ruger Firearms will be awarded by random drawing. A Maximum of two entries/divisions per person (one open & one limited).
