Although the Rockford varsity girls tennis team was rained out of their conference meet on Saturday, they are enthusiastic and optimistic about playing the make-up meet scheduled for Monday at West Ottawa. As four singles junior Jenelle Miller put it, “I’m really looking forward to conference and regionals this week. The matches we play from here on out are what really matter and I’m excited to play hard, competitive matches.”

Echoed second doubles Anna Johnson, “We are looking forward to the competition ahead of us. We are a close-knit group and we compete hard but have a lot of fun.”

In the week leading up to Saturday’s scheduled competition, the team won against East Kentwood on Monday, May 9. Additionally, the girls hosted Holt at home on Tuesday, and with all flights victorious, came away with an 8-0 win.

On Thursday, May 19, the team will travel to East Kentwood for the regional meet, and has hopes of qualifying for the state meet in Midland for the third straight year.
