Rockford grad coordinates Festival De Cannes in France

A group of Central Michigan University students are wrapping up the academic year in France where they are helping carry out the world’s largest showcase of film: Festival De Cannes, which runs from May 11-22.

Tara Clark of Rockford, a senior at CMU, is among the 14 students participating in the project. The students are minoring in event management at CMU, which highlights coursework and practical experiences that focus on helping students develop the skills necessary to become successful event managers.

“Students will be working behind-the-scenes during the entire festival,” said CMU faculty leader Lorie Tuma. “This kind of experience is invaluable to their future careers.”

CMU students also will make professional connections, as they will be working alongside the staff of Robert De Niro, a well-known actor and director. De Niro is serving on the festival’s jury for feature films.
