The Rockford High School boys cross country team hit the road on Saturday, Sept. 10 to compete at the Bath Invitational. Five of the Rams’ seven varsity harriers recorded personal best times in the 5K race, earning a second-place finish behind Saline High School.
Saline’s Nick Renberg bested the field of 78 runners with a smoking hot time of 15:49. Finishing in second place for the Rams was Drew Woznick with a personal best time of 16:17. Woznick was followed across the finish line by Austin Benoit in ninth place, Casey Aman (10th), Tyler Harney (14th), Chris Coles (16th), Grant Aman (20th) and Mark Cruickshank (26th).
Rockford won the junior varsity race for the sixth straight year, taking the top three places. The Rams were led by senior Andrew Pitcher with a time of 17:15, followed by fellow seniors Connor Jewell and Mark Lehman. Rockford’s Mitch Switzer and Tyler Aman also had strong races, finishing among the top nine places.
The Ram harriers have a busy week scheduled, featuring a dual meet at East Kentwood on Wednesday Sept. 14, the Spartan Invitational on Friday, Sept. 16, and the Sparta Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 17.
