One person ejected during two-vehicle collision

A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Wolverine Boulevard (Northland Drive) and 11 Mile Road about 10:30 a.m. caused Wolverine Boulevard to be closed in the northbound lane on Tuesday, January 3. According to Rockford Police Officer Dave Robinson, one of the two vehicles must have run a red light causing the accident. He said three people were involved, one of which was ejected from a vehicle during the incident.

“All three were removed to the hospital on backboards because of the possibility of injuries,” Robinson stated. One vehicle was northbound on Wolverine Boulevard, the other westbound on Eleven Mile Road.

A Kent County Sheriff Department accident reconstructionist was on the scene along with multiple Rockford Fire and Police Department vehicles. The two vehicles involved in the crash sustained considerable damage.

One of the two vehicles was spun completely around from the impact of the crash and rested southbound in the road. Rockford Police are in charge of the investigation.
