Rockford Baseball is pleased to announce that senior Ian Stankus has verbally committed to play baseball at Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC). Stankus was recruited to play middle infield and pitch for the Raiders.
GRCC is regarded as one of the top Division II baseball junior colleges in the country. They have won five national titles, including three in a row from 2003 to 2005.
Stankus, the speedy righty, is the 36th ranked player in the state of Michigan, according to MichiganBaseballProspects.org. He is also rated third in the state for arm strength amongst infielders. Stankus has been gunned at an amazing 87 mph across the infield. His outstanding defense helped pave the way to a 2011 Rockford Baseball state title.
In the summer, Stankus plays travel baseball for Rockford Team Ram and Diamonds. Team Ram is coached by Rockford High School varsity assistant coach Steve Fusee.
Ian is the son of Ron and Sue Stankus of Rockford.
