Rockford’s swim/dive team continued its strong start to the season with a 156-107 win over Grand Haven at home on Thursday, Jan. 12. Grabbing first place in every relay and sweeping the most points in every individual event, the Rams showed just why they still remain undefeated in the OK Red.

In the 50-yard freestyle, Rockford gained the maximum points possible when all four swimmers secured the top four spots. Junior Nick Willison touched the wall first (23.28), followed by teammates Nick Dulak in second (23.81), Nathan Napolillo in third (24.18), and Daniel Newberger in fourth (24.64).

Rockford junior Trenton Babcock competes head-to-head in the 100-yard fly with Grand Haven’s Takuya Kobayaski.

Senior swimmer Bryan Wasberg grabbed his third individual state cut—the 10th for the Rams this season—with his second-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley (2:02.79), behind first-place Grand Haven’s Takuya Kobayaski (2:01.71).

Rockford sophomore diver Shane Phillips clinched the highest score for the Rams on the diving board with his second-place finish of 218.15 points. Grand Haven’s Casey Carlson came in first with a score of 226.05.

Up next, Rockford will take on West Ottawa at home on Thursday, Jan. 19.
