Rockford Rotary earns literacy Golden Apple Award

Presenting the Golden Apple Award to Jim and Susan Bodenner, president of Rockford Rotary Club, is Robin Macqueen, Kent Reading Council president.

The Kent Reading Council, in association with Michigan Reading Association, recently awarded the Golden Apple Award to the Rockford Rotary Club for its avid support of literacy in their community.

The Rockford Rotary has supported the district with summer school grants, money for books, and for sponsoring the Reading Rocks in Rockford reading festival, which will be held for the fourth consecutive year on August 11 of this summer.

The presentation was made at the Amway Grand Hotel at the 50th anniversary celebration of Kent Reading Council.
