A group of Scouts visited the office of The Rockford Squire this spring to learn about communication and qualify for badges. The kids had plenty of interesting questions about the newspaper business and showed a keen interest in some of the old equipment at the Squire. They learned that the newspaper has been in the town since the first edition of the Rockford Weekly Register in February 8, 1871. As part of their “tour,” each youngster was able to see what was front page news the week they were born.
