Last week featured two home games against Portage Northern and Zeeland.

Marie Siegel drives to the goal against Okemos.

The first game against Portage Northern, April 24, featured nine goals in the first quarter of play. This really decided the game, which led to Ram victory with a final score of 14-1. This team continues to get excellent senior leadership from Maddie Levine, Hollis Wyatt, Julia Ceglowski, Case Wolfer, Abby Finlayson and Morgan Longberg.

Later in the week, April 26, Zeeland made its way to the Rockford pool only to find a Ram team that was set on redeeming one of the few losses for this team in the 2012 season. Rockford opened the first quarter with a commanding 3-0 lead with goals by Kara Vanderwater, Wolfer and Adrianna Craft. Zeeland made a nice comeback in the second quarter and the halftime score was Rockford 4, Zeeland 3.

Coming out of halftime, the Lady Rams took control of the game with three goals, which resulted in a final score of 9-4.  =Scoring in the second half were Craft, Levine, Longberg and Vanderwater.

Rockford hosted a weekend tournament that brought in excellent competition from Michigan and Illinois. The Rams were up to the task and completed a 4-0 weekend.

The first game was against Hudsonville, who have played the Rams tough this season. The first quarter featured two goals by Levine and a goal by Wolfer.

In the second quarter, Vanderwater and Craft tallied a goal apiece to end the first half with a commanding 5-2 lead. Scoring in the second half to complete an 8-4 victory were Longberg, Wolfer and Wyatt.

For the second game, the Lady Rams took on Ann Arbor Pioneer. The first quarter onslaught of six goals decided this game early on, leading to final score of 10-2. Scoring in the game for the Lady Rams were Wolfer (four), Craft (three), Levine (one), Longberg (one) and Vanderwater (one). Another fine performance in goal by Ellianna Raymond limited Ann Arbor to two goals.

The third game featured defending state champion Okemos. This was a very tight game and featured tremendous play from both teams. Craft scored two first-quarter goals to give Rockford a 2-1 lead.

In the second quarter, goals by Vanderwater and Wolfer provided a 4-3 halftime lead. Rockford scored three times in the third quarter—Wolfer (two) and Craft (one)—which sealed the final 7-5 win. A fine defensive effort held this high-powered Okemos team to five goals.

The final game featured Illinois State Champion Fennwick. Again the results were the same with the Lady Rams securing a 9-8 victory.

The first quarter was a back-and-forth game with three goals coming from Craft and a 3-3 game. The Lady Rams found themselves down a goal at halftime, 4-5, but did not panic.

The third quarter featured goals by Marie Siegel, Wolfer and Vanderwater, putting Rockford up, 7-5.

The final quarter came right down to the wire, but the Lady Rams were able to secure the win by adding two much needed goals by Wolfer and Craft. This win capped off a truly remarkable week of water polo for the Lady Rams.
