Rockford varsity boys lacrosse team dominated East Grand Rapids Pioneers last Tuesday night, April 24, beating them 13-6. This was the first time the boys varsity team swept the season’s conference games.
Coach Sims and his staff did a great job firing up the team. It is understand part of the week’s preparation for the game included baking cakes and stuffing fortune cookies—perhaps that played a part in the team’s success?
Rockford jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter. The Rams played a flawless first quarter in every aspect of play. Scoring goals in the first quarter were Kane Wolfer with two, and Kento Nakano, Jesse Siegel, Blake McDonald and Mitch Newton each contributing one. Assists went to Lewis, Newton, Nakano, Hartnagel, and Jared Seifert.

The final tally of the annual Ramger event held at the Ted on April 21 has been updated. Rockford High School and Forest Hills School Districts raised almost $12,000 for the VanAndel Institute. A huge thank-you goes to all who helped to make this event a huge success!
And one more fun fact to share: After over 20 years in the Rockford school district, the Poubas would like to set the record straight; it is pronounced Pouba with a long O. “When two vowels sit side by side, the first one talks and the second walks.”
