Post named first-team Academic All-American

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology junior Ethan Post of Rockford has earned first-team Capital One NCAA Division III Baseball Academic All-American honors, in results released recently by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Post was named first-team Academic All-American for his efforts in the classroom and as a member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship baseball squad. The NCAA Division III Academic All-American team includes three squads, including just two pitchers each out of more than 440 institutions across the nation.

Post becomes the 95th Academic All-American in Rose-Hulman athletics history and the 18th honoree in the sport of baseball. He also joins Eric Tryon (1996 and 1997), Jimmy Costa (1998) and Matt Moore (2003) as a baseball first-team Academic All-American.

His award also helps continue a tradition that features 27 consecutive years that a Rose-Hulman student-athlete has earned Academic All-American honors, the sixth longest streak among all NCAA Division I, II or III institutions and the longest streak in Division III.

On the field, Post finished 3-1 with a 4.61 earned run average in nine starts and 10 appearances for the Fightin’ Engineers. His season highlights included a victory over NCAA Division III Tournament qualifier Illinois Wesleyan University, a strong 8.1 inning effort in a conference win over Defiance, and another league victory with a five-inning performance against Bluffton.

Post improved to 7-2 with a 4.41 earned run average in 21 career appearances and 11 starts at Rose-Hulman.

In the classroom, Post maintains a perfect 4.0 grade-point average as a chemical engineering and chemistry double major. He is also a member of the Rose-Hulman American Institute of Chemical Engineers chapter.

Rose-Hulman finished 27-14 overall and won the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season title for the first time since 1996 this spring. The Fightin’ Engineers hosted the HCAC Tournament and have compiled an overall team record of 84-44 during Post’s career.
