Annual art show offers opportunities for unique works

The Rogue River Artists Association annual art show is coming right up on Saturday, July 14 at the home of artist Shirley Dean, 9620 Summit Ave., Rockford. Dean, who was accepted this year into Grand Rapids’ ArtPrize event, is just one of many local painters, sculptors, photographers and artists in other mediums who will offer their work for show or purchase.

Visitors will enjoy Dean’s lovely gardens as they visit with artists and look over unique, locally produced works, which will grace any home or make a wonderful one-of-a-kind gift. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The association is always looking for new members. The group meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Rockford D&W Fresh Market’s upstairs eating area.

In addition to the annual summer show and sale, the group’s work can be seen during Art in the Park downtown Rockford in Garden Club Park and along the White Pine Trail. This year’s Art in the Park is September 8. During Harvest Festival weekends, the artists set up their tents at Herman’s Boy. There is also a holiday season show November 10 at Rockford United Methodist Church in downtown Rockford. For more information, visit artsrockford.org.
