Woznick sets cross country course record

On Tuesday, the Rams hosted the second OK Conference Jamboree at East Rockford Middle School. Rockford senior Drew Woznick used the occasion to set a new course record of 16:14, as he led the 5K race from start to finish. Rockford won the meet with a total of seven Rams among the top 20 finishers. Scoring for the Rams were Woznick, Austin Benoit (3rd), Grant Aman (8th), Chris Coles (14th), Isaac Harding (16th), Caleb Cuneo (19th) and Mark Cruickshank (20th).

On Saturday, the Rams competed at the Portage Invitational under cold and blustery conditions. In the Division 1 varsity race, a total of 262 runners competed and team-Rockford battled to a third place finish. Woznick was the first Ram across the finish line in 14th place with a time of 15:36. Next across the finish line for the Rams were Benoit, Coles, Grant Aman, Harding, Cuneo and Tyler Aman.

The Division 1 reserve race featured a field of 512 participants and saw four Rams finish in the top 50, including: Cruickshank in 8th, Colin Reichenbach in 18th, Mitch Switzer in 32nd and Matt Albano in 46th.

The Rams next competition is Saturday at the Kent/Ottawa Invitational to be held at Calvin College’s Gainey Complex.
