Second Happy Hounds Walk to benefit human, pet charities

The Happy Hounds Dog Walk will be held Saturday October 27th at the Community Cabin in Rockford. The proceeds from the walk will go to grant recipients Girls on the Run and the Kent County Search and Rescue K9 unit. KCSU will have 3 dog/handler teams at the walk to explain the training required to become a member of their team and to answer any questions.

After the walk will be the costume contest for dogs and their people. Last year’s winner, Tilly, took home the top prize with a train costume. Everyone is excited to see how creative the costumes will be this year.

Following the costume contest, will be the raffle which was a huge hit in 2011 and promises to be even better this year with donations from Rudy Kazooty’s, The Frame and Mat Shop, Wise Photography, The Corner Bar, Peak Performance, Missy Vee’s Boutique, KSS Enterprises, Grand Cakes, Super Cuts, and more.

Throughout the event, refreshments will be for sale by Flo’s and don’t forget the free popcorn. There will also be plenty of vendors and non-profit organizations set up to provide shopping and educational information including Therapy Dogs of West Michigan, PAWS, Animal Assist Crisis Response, and Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue, who will have some pups at the walk hoping to find their forever homes.
