At Rockford’s senior night, the women’s swim and dive team beat Grand Haven High School 193 to 116.
The night started off by special recognition of this year’s seniors, Bailey Bach, Helena Becker, Kayla Brower, Adrianna Craft, Kennedy Cutler, Morgan Koop, Morgan Lipe, Elyse Ramsay, Kristen Schnelle, Marie Siegel and Courtney Uselton.
The Rams started out strong by getting first, second, and third place in the 200 yard medley relay. Megan Schremp won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.58. The Rams claimed first, second, third, and fourth in the 200 yard I.M. and the 50 yard freestyle. The winner of the 50 yard freestyle, Sophomore Dakota Noble, finished with a state-qualifying time of 24.83 seconds. Ali Cook and Sarah McCabe took first and second in the diving competition respectively. Senior Adrianna Craft finished first with a state cut in the 100 yard butterfly, followed closely by Maddi Trimble, Erin Hudson, and Kristen Schnelle. The Rams got another first through fourth finish in the 100 yard freestyle. Junior Kayla Kidder finished first in the 500 yard freestyle with freshman Corey Stage following for a close second. Kara Vandawater finished first in the 100 yard backstroke.
At the Saturday meet against Zeeland, Kara Vandawater, Kennedy Cutler, Maddi Trimble, and Dakota Noble started out with a first place finish in the 200 yard medley relay. Vandawater also finished first in the 200 I.M. with a time of 2:14.74, beating the second place finisher from Zeeland by five seconds. Ali Cook took first place in the diving competition with a score of 318.80 for eleven dives. Sophomore Marissa Marion grabbed first place in the 100 yard freestyle with a state-qualifying time of 54.18. The relay team of Erin Hudson, Noble, Schnelle, and Cutler finished first in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:41.98. In the 100 yard backstroke Delayni Kornak-Kotarba got her state cut, finishing with a time of 1:01.13.
The Rams’ next competition is the Conference meet which will be held at Rockford. Diving prelims start at 5pm on Thursday, November 1, swim prelims are on Friday, November 2, at 2pm and the swim and dive finals start at noon on November 3.
