Runners take great pride in reaching goals. Sometimes it is their first race, or their first marathon and sometimes it is finishing with a personal best time. Kevin Holmes of Rockford reached a running milestone Wednesday, October 24th when he ran the 125,000th mile of his life.

Kevin is an active member of the North Kent Running Club which meets regularly for group workouts. Kevin has been running with the group for over 12 years, but his running career started as a high school track star in the upper peninsula of Michigan. Originally from Escanaba, Holmes was the upper peninsula champ in the mile in high school. In 1974 he started keeping a running log to track the many miles he has run. In 2005 Kevin reached 100,000 miles. Wednesday night his friends in the North Kent Running Club joined him for mile 125,000.

North Kent Running Club leader, Linda Glaske, says “Kevin is a very hard worker and loves running. He is one of the most faithful runners in our group. The NKRC is very proud of Kevin.” The North Kent Running Club is a free organization that meets on Monday and Wednesday nights for track interval training and Saturdays for long runs. Anyone interested is welcome to come to the North Middle School Track on Mondays or Wednesdays at 6 pm. Maybe you can be there when Kevin Holmes hits 150,000 miles.
