Cub Scout pack enjoy Pickerel Lake hike

On Sunday, October 21, 2012, members of Cub Scout Pack 3264, chartered by the Rockford Lions Club, participated in the Pack’s annual Pickerel Lake Hike. The boys, who draw from Parkside Elementary, Valley View Elementary, Our Lady of Consolation and various home-schooled families, participated in a variety of activities on their way to earning their various ranks. Besides participating in a general nature hike, the boys practiced a variety of principles related to being outdoors by scouring the trails for trash, identifying elements of nature scavenger-hunt style, and learning how to properly prepare oneself for being outside. The weather was spectacular and the attendees thoroughly enjoyed the show that Mother Nature provided.
