Couple pursue dream of working with dogs

Licensed Master Dog Trainer specializes in behavior problems

Faithful Friends Dog Training, LLC opened its doors Jan. 2, 2013. It is a new doggie daycare and dog training facility owned and operated by husband and wife, Bob and Joni Weiselberg. Bob and Joni had spent a couple of years away from West Michigan due to the economy, but they were finally able to find their way back to the area, recently landing in Rockford. After a few years of attempting to open a doggie daycare in another West Michigan town, they are finally pursuing their dream. They both have a passion for dogs and consider their own dogs as their “four-legged children.” When the timing was right, they decided it was the perfect opportunity to pursue their dream of working with dogs and helping people and their faithful doggie friends build healthy, lasting relationships.

Bob is a licensed Master Dog Trainer and has been training dogs since 2005. He completed his training at the Academy of Canine Education where he spent six weeks studying and participating in hands-on dog training in Queens, NY. Since then, Bob has trained over 70 dogs, mostly in the Tri-Cities area where the couple previously lived for 20 years.

The dog training will focus on group obedience classes and will be scheduled mainly on weeknights. Bob will also offer private one-on-one training sessions by request. He also offers a working consultation/evaluation. Other specialty classes such as bringing a newborn home and choosing a puppy will be offered periodically. He specializes in behavior problem solving. After a painful experience of having to put down his own dog, Norton, several years ago when another dog trainer was unable to help with aggression and possession issues, Bob decided to learn more about dog training and vowed never to see that happen again. Bob will train all breeds and all ages.

Joni has an education background as well as customer service, pet-sitting, administrative, sales, and management experience. She is excited about combining these varied job experiences and applying those skills to successfully manage the doggie daycare operation.

The Doggie Daycare will operate Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 6:15 p.m. and will service clients who desire a safe, fun place for their canine family member to socialize and exercise while their parents are working, shopping, running errands, or attending an event in the area. The center has an indoor and outdoor play area.

There is also a new veterinarian, Rockford Family Vet, which opened its doors on Jan. 4th and is located right next door, which could not be a better neighboring business for the doggie daycare and training center.

Faithful Friends Dog Training, LLC and Doggie Daycare & Dog Training Services are located at 8450 Algoma Ave., Ste. C, Rockford, MI 49341. They can be reached by telephone at 616.863.4900, emailed or visited online at
