Rockford Cheer places 5th in districts

Comp-CheerRockford High School Competitive Cheer Team ended their season in the most highly ranked district in the state. After being ranked a season high 9th in the state of Michigan by the MHSAA Competitive Cheer website, Rockford reached their peak at the District finals in Caledonia. Rockford placed 5th in the district with their highest final score of 770.74 following Hudsonville, Grandville, East Kentwood, and West Ottawa (who are all ranked in the top 10 in the state).

With only 5 points separating them from Regionals, Coach Renee Dengler exclaimed, “I have never been more proud than I am today.  My AMAZING athletes left everything they had on the mat! We scored our highest round two and three scores today, which was fantastic.  Our round three was on FIRE!!!  It moved me to tears when they finished.  They put every ounce of energy, concentration, heart and pride they had in their souls into that round.  This team has left a huge imprint on my heart, and we were so blessed with all of the support we had this season from our awesome fans!”

Junior Hailey Huffman is optimistic about the future, “There are tons of extremely talented girls in the program with diverse skills and strengths. With all the talent, we also excel with determination, focus, and intensity. We want it so bad that even if we are dripping in sweat, aching in pain, gasping for air, and are beyond exhausted, we will do it again and again until it is right!”

Junior Kelsea Buchanan continued, “Now that we know how close we really are to all the other teams, it really boosts our confidence. We have learned from our mistakes. We are more determined than ever. Next year, I plan on leading my team to regionals!”

Congratulations on a strong finish for our Lady Ram cheerleaders!
