RPS Testing for 9th Grade Honors Classes

Sponsored by the Rockford Public Schools Gifted and Talented Department

Testing for Rockford Public Schools Freshman Center honors courses will take place at the end of April. Honors courses are offered in English and Science and are carefully designed by teachers in order to meet the needs of highly able students in these particular subjects. These honors courses coincide with the Rockford Public Schools curriculum standards, but offer a more rigorous pace and more in-depth content. In order to participate in honors testing, current 8th graders must submit an application and an essay, highlighting interest level and potential for participation. Visit the following website for specific information regarding honors course descriptions and to download an application: www.rockfordschools.org/?i=GT.

All applications for Honors testing are due to the GT Office located at Belmont Elementary no later than March 27, 2013 at 4:00 PM. Late applicants will be tested in August.

Honors Testing will take place on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 OR Saturday, April 20, 2013. Students testing must choose one of these dates for testing. All transportation must be provided by parents for both test dates. Students must be enrolled in the Rockford Public School District in order to test.
