Uccello’s Restaurant is working to purchase the restaurant portion of the Sam’s Joint building on Main Street in downtown Rockford. According to a report by City Manager Michael Young, Uccello’s would like to change the eatery into one of their traditional sports bars. Uccello’s has applied for a building permit and the City received notice of the transfer of the liquor license from Sam’s Joint to Uccello’s.

The plan is to sell the first floor independently from the second and third floors, which would require the project to go through the condominium process. As part of that process, property owners would need to apply to the Planning Commission. This has not yet happened.
