Pillars of community recognized by RACE

The Rockford Area Community Endowment (RACE) is pleased to announce the 2013 inductees to the Community Recognition Plaza located at Peppler Park on the west side of the Rogue River. The Plaza was established by the Endowment Board of Directors several years ago to recognize individuals or organizations that have made a significant contribution to the Rockford area community.

“Nominees must go through a stringent nomination process with specific criteria to be reviewed for each nomination,” said City Manager Michael Young. “Induction to the Plaza is designed to be extremely difficult and showcase the outstanding accomplishments individuals have made to our great community.”

This year’s inductees are Mr. Bob Boyer, Ms. Margaret Janose, Ms. Joyce Torrey and Kletis and Jim McIntyre. Inductees will be honored at the RACE annual meeting to be held Tuesday, May 7 at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Rockford City Hall. After the introduction of inductees, participants will travel down to the Recognition Plaza for the formal ceremony recognizing the inductees, their family and friends and to honor their accomplishments.
