North Rockford Middle School Bands rated superior

NRMS-BandsOn May 2, 2013, both the 7th grade Concert Band and 8th grade Symphonic Band from North Rockford Middle School traveled to Big Rapids High School to perform at the State Band Festival. Both received Superior Division I ratings as well as earning a Superior Division I rating from the sight reading judge. Sight reading is the portion of the festival where the students have five minutes to learn a piece of music they have never played or seen before and then perform it for a judge.

To perform at the State Band Festival, bands need to receive superior ratings at their District Band Festival. Both the 7th and 8th grade bands received Superior Division I ratings at the District 10 Band Festival held at Grandville High School on February 28, 2013. This marked the twelfth consecutive year that the Symphonic Band received a superior rating and the tenth year the Concert Band received the same honor at the District 10 Band Festival.
