Simms casts lot with Adrian College

Rockford had a relatively quiet day on signing day for football in 2013. Kyle Short committed to Grand Valley State University and KC Zenner opted for Ferris State University. Now you can add one more to the list as 2012 Senior Wide Receiver Nick Simms made it official that he will attend and continue his football career at Adrian College.

Adrian College is a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA).  The 2012-13 season marked the 125th Anniversary of America’s oldest collegiate conference.  Adrian was crowned conference champion in 2012 with a 6-0 record and finished the campaign with an overall mark of 9-2. Simms will be reunited with former TEAMmate Andrew Cunningham (2012 Rockford grad) and current linebacker for the Bulldogs.

Simms had multiple big catches for the Rams during their run to the state semifinals as a starting wide receiver. He has continued his athletic career for the Rams as a key member of the track team in both individual and relay sprint events this spring.

“I am extremely happy for Nick and his parents (Kris and Pete),” said Rockford football coach Ralph Munger. “Playing football at the collegiate level takes a tremendous amount of dedication while trying to maintain success as both an athlete and a student. Nick does a great job in both areas and we wish him nothing but continued success.”
