Two Montcalm Community College instructors were honored during the college’s 46th Annual Commencement ceremony on May 3.
Mathematics Instructor Kenneth Parker received the Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award. The recipients were given a plaque, a stipend and a citation.
Parker, of Belmont, has served as a part-time mathematics instructor since 2003. His students commend him for the confidence he instills in them, his kind and thorough instruction and the care and concern he has for each one. Parker is said to possess the unusual ability to help his students “fall in love with math in particular, and learning in general.” His goal is his students’ understanding and practical use of knowledge. In addition to his classroom expertise, Parker is the founder of the Sidney Stars Base Ball Club, and has organized the Vintage Base Ball games for the annual Montcalm Heritage Festival. Parker has also served in community outreach and as a student club advisor.
