This 34th annual event brings together over 8,000 participants from around the world, and the stage is set for an epic week of learning, competition, camaraderie and fun. Michigan State University this past weekend hosted one of the largest World Finals events ever, boasting 827 teams from 13 countries and 33 U.S. states, bringing 16,000 visitors together for one amazing creativity competition!

The energy and enthusiasm inside the Breslin Student Events Center during the Opening Ceremonies of the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals was nothing short of magical. The Breslin was filled to capacity with cheering, kids and fans ready to celebrate their creativity! Let the challenges begin!

As Odyssey teams from all over the world and across all four divisions (elementary through college age) dig in and begin to execute their painstakingly planned team performances, tensions and excitement are running high. So much work goes into creative solutions and themes for each of the five problems that when the time comes to perform on the world stage, sweaty palms, big-time nerves and a quickened pulse are not out of the question! (for the coaches too!)

When the awards ceremony began, the teams were a mix of relief and tension but loaded down with new friendships, lifetime memories and souvenir pins from all over the world!

Rockford began the 2012-13 school year with 22 teams, 17 of which continued on to the State Finals. Nine of those 17 earned a spot to compete at World Finals this year!

Bronze Medalists – 3rd place – Cannonsburg Elementary Prob 3, Div 1 – coaches Karen Dufendach and Michelle DeVries – team members: Kaylia Dufendach, Maggie Silver, Courtney Cocuzza, Ashlyn DeVries, Avery Milo, Clara Wyman, Lindsey Meredith.
