Bailey’s General Store armed robber caught on side of road

Witnesses follow suspect, find crashed car

Belmont-robberOn Thursday, May 23, 2013, the Kent County Sheriff Department responded to a robbery at the Citgo Gas Station (Bailey’s General Store) located at 6051 Belding Road N.E., Cannon Township. The suspect entered the store with a towel covering his face, implied he had a weapon, and demanded money. The suspect fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money.

Two customers arrived at the store as the suspect was fleeing and followed the suspect’s vehicle until they lost sight of it along Blakely Drive. The witnesses later located the vehicle crashed in a ditch on Blakely Drive south of 7 Mile Road. A responding deputy located a person walking along the road that matched the physical description of the suspect. The deputy took this person into custody and he was identified as the suspect by the clerk at the store and the two witnesses.

This case was reviewed by the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office and charges were authorized on Timothy Lee Rogers, 39, of Belmont for one count of Armed Robbery. On May 28, 2013, Rogers was arraigned in the 63rd District Court and is currently being held on a $25,000 C/S bond.
