The Rockford QB (quarterback) Technique Clinic began on Monday, June 24th and ran through Wednesday, June 26th. It ran from 8:45 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. daily and is a small camp by design because that is how Rockford football coach Ralph Munger likes it. There are 24 participants from mostly area schools who receive invaluable teaching and advice over that relatively short time frame.
“I’ve forgotten when I started the clinic but I know we’ve had it going for at least ten years where we have run it ourselves,” said Munger. “I started the clinic by hiring Ferris State University’s QB coach and offensive coordinator to instruct the boys who attended. But then I figured ‘hey, we have plenty of experience and I have plenty of a background to put it together ourselves’.”
Steve Fusee, Tom Fusee, Mark LaPrairie, Kyle Short and Erik Barker are all former Rockford quarterbacks who are helping to provide instruction. Steve Dengler (Rockford assistant coach) also provides plenty of quality instruction for the receivers who attend daily.
“I put Joe (Schwander) in charge of instruction and coordinating the clinic three or four years ago,” said Munger. “He did an awesome job over that time frame and is trying to get the same type of thing going on in Belding for years to come.”
