Ram Pride TEAM Camp kicks off preparation for 2013

By RANDY GREGORY

The eagerly anticipated 2013 football season for Rockford High School got it’s unofficial beginning with the start of Ram Pride TEAM Camp on Tuesday, July 9th. The camp will run through the 11th and that will be immediately followed by seven on seven competitions the following week.

“We have 285 young men registered at this point and anticipate picking up a couple more by camp time,” said Rockford football coach Ralph Munger. “We love seeing our young men being involved in other sports and interests but at the same time we really look forward to getting them all together for the first time as a team.”

Rockford has had some notable successes with individuals on a collegiate and even a professional basis over the last two decades. But, by and large, the vast majority of the athletes who continue their football past their prep days at RHS has been at the Division 2 level and below. This camp has long been a stepping stone to the team success Rockford has achieved despite not fielding multiple Division 1 athletes that schools like Detroit Catholic Central, Clarkston and Detroit Cass Tech annually field.
