Bravo to Dr. McFall, DDS

Dear Editor

After reading your feature on the young Rockford student who lost her front teeth in a longboarding accident, I was gratified to learn about the community response after her insurance companies would not cover her expenses.  Bravo to Dr. McFall for offering to complete her dental repairs free of charge, and bravo to her fellow students for their fundraising efforts on her behalf.

But I’d like to know the names of the dental insurance company, who denied her claim, stating it was for “cosmetic reasons.”  I’d also like to know the name of the medical insurance company who won’t cover her ambulance charge because the accident occurred in a township other than the one she lived in.  If either company is one I’m currently covered with, I want to write them a letter stating my outrage.  If it’s another company, I will still write them a letter and make sure I never do business with them in the future.

Since I’m told the young woman’s story will be covered again in The Squire, I’ll be watching to see if you can include this information in future feature articles.
